I am delighted to welcome you to the third edition of Slow Museum Saturdays!

Every other Saturday, we gather at a different museum to practice mindful observation and slow looking. Instead of rushing through galleries in an attempt to see everything, we focus our attention on just a handful of artworks—allowing ourselves the time and space to truly notice, reflect, and connect.

Experiencing this together in a group adds a beautiful dimension. Art, after all, is deeply subjective. It stirs different emotions in each of us, and through our shared reflections, we gain new perspectives—seeing not only what is on the canvas, but also what unfolds in each other’s gaze.

By the end of each session, we often leave with a clearer mind, open hearts, and a renewed appreciation for both the artwork and the act of looking itself.

🌍 Location:

Centraal Museum, Utrecht

A museum of rich contrasts and quiet surprises, the Centraal Museum is housed in a network of historic buildings—including a convent, chapel, and former stables. Its winding layout and serene garden invite slow exploration and reflection.

The collection spans centuries, from Utrecht’s Old Masters to modern voices like Marlene Dumas and Dick Bruna. With accessible routes, thoughtful exhibitions, and cozy spaces to pause, it’s an ideal setting for mindful looking and shared discovery.

🎨 Selected Artworks & Reflective Prompts

Here are a few curated pieces to guide our session.

  1. Fantasy River Landscape with the Chapel of St. Agnite Convent in Utrecht – Herman Saftleven

A delicately rendered depiction of a meandering river valley, featuring earthy colors, atmospheric mist, and lively figures. Saftleven’s landscapes often blend imagination with his Rhine travel impressions.
