Dear community,
I hope you are doing fine and life is treating you well. It was pointed out to me that it is not possible to reply to these emails. I apologize for that and will try to fix it later.
It is a bit too late for me to invite you to the next installment of Slow Museum Saturdays, so this will be more of an announcement post.
I don’t know if you might have noticed already, but I do like to write. You might also be surprised to know that I write these myself, and AI is only used in an editorial capacity.
Last week I was at the Dordrechts Museum doing my research for the meetup tomorrow. As I walked into this spectacular room, past the more recent work from the 20th century, I was greeted by this incredible piece of work that was almost as tall as me. It is framed in an impressive golden frame with beautiful carvings. Apparently, Hendrik was specialized in capturing the sea in his work. And this made me wonder about different artists and their specializations, the amount of time they must have spent admiring their subject, the kinds of things they must notice, and the personal motivations they might have. Makes you really want to appreciate their work.
I am very grateful that I have the time and energy to do these kinds of things. I do not take my privilege lightly. But, of course, life is always testing us, and for me a challenging phase in my life has begun. I am going through some trouble at work which will require some of my attention. So I must reallocate some of my time and energy to that. Starting from now, we will only have one Slow Museum Saturdays per month. I will still be going to museums every Saturday though, and you are welcome to join me.
To compensate for the reduced frequency, I have also thought of hosting a social dinner for us to come together and engage in deep topics related to art and mindfulness. I will add more information on that, but please let me know if you like the idea(in WhatsApp).
With that, I wish you all a very beautiful weekend. May you all be able to face life’s challenges with peace of mind while enjoying every moment of it.
Kind regards,
Imtiaz
